Kodiak shows you a rugged, real
Alaska. Not a normal stop on most Alaska cruise itineraries, this is your
chance to see an area rich in wildlife, lush with vegetation, and temperate,
thanks to its maritime climate. From summer to October there is good fishing
for many kinds of salmon, as well as rainbow trout.
The
Kodiak area features fjord-like bays, sagged peaks, and U-shaped
valleys that were left by the retreat of large glaciers. There are dramatic
snow-tipped mountains plunging into deep, tree-lined fjords.
You may see buffalo grazing in one of the lush valleys, just like those
below. |
